“The graduates of our leadership program come from a wide variety of professions and all age groups – from their 20s to their 60s,” says Sandy Bull, Leadership Mid-America Program Director and Small Business Management Coordinator. “A broad cross-section of the area communities is represented in each class, creating a pool of graduates who offer diverse insight and regional networking when meeting the challenges ahead.”

Mid America Leadership is an outgrowth of the Mid-America Business & Industry Council. It is a non-profit organization, guided by a board of directors, and suported by area businesses and organizations.

THE PARTICIPANTS
Any individual 25 or older may apply. Up to 12 applicants will be selected for the class, but failure to be chosen in no way indicates an individual is unsuitable for the program. Those who are not selected are welcome to apply again.

The selection criteria emphasizes applicants' interests and expertise. Participants are selected on ability, demonstrated interest in their community, and insight for effective leadership. The application process ensures a class that consists of members from diverse backgrounds, experiences, and geographical locations.

A broad cross-section of the area communities are reflected within each class, creating a pool of graduates who offer diverse insight and regional networking when meeting the challenges ahead.

Team building and leadership
MEETING DATES
Most classes meet from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month beginning in September and ending in April.  Class members will qualify for graduation by earning points for regular attendance and approved extra-curricular activities.  A detailed schedule is available upon request.
FINANCIAL INFORMATION
History awareness and involvement
Tuition for the program is $250.  Payment can be made by personal or corporate check.  Tuition covers all snacks and meals, program material, speakers, transportation during the sessions and graduation banquet.  Businesses and organizations are encouraged to pay the tuition of their participant and most do -- this is between the participant and the employer.
THE COURSE
The course consists of 8 full day sessions. Classes are held in a location that best relates to the topic. As with all worthwhile endeavors, this program requires a definite commitment of time on the part of each participant. Attendance is mandatory for successsful completion of the program.
