Printing and Computer Graphics Syllabus
2006-2007
Course Description
Students will study the theory and practice of desktop publishing,
design, and printing. Many "live" projects are utilized
to help build skills and give a realistic learning experience.
Maturity and the ability to handle deadlines are necessities in
this class.
Course Objective
Upon the completion of this course, the student will be able to
enter the Graphic Communications/Printing field at an advanced
entry level.
Make up work policy
Students wishing to make up hours will be allowed to do so in
two ways. First, by attending class at Mid-America Tech Center
when their school is dismissed and Mid-America is in session. Students
will be allowed to make up hours up to 70% on their attendance
grade. Full-time adult students are not allowed to make up for
time missed.
It is the student's responsibility to make sure that all work (test,
written and projects) is turned in for each nine-week grading period.
SkillsUSA
Skills USA is a student organization that is an integral part
of the Printing and Computer Graphics class. Required by the State
Department of Career and Technology, classes must participate in
a vocational student organization. A $___ fee is required for Skills
USA
Grading will be as follows:
Attendance 25%
The attendance shall follow the school policy as stated in the
student information bulletin.
Written Tests 25%
Written tests shall be given every Thursday. Open Entry- Open
Exit students can work out an individualized instruction plan with
the instructor. It is the student's responsibility to ask for a
make up test. A test must be made up before the 9 weeks period
is up.
Work Ethic 20%
In industry a good work ethic is important. A work ethic rubric
(grading criteria) is used to determine a student's grade.
Performance 30%
Performance will be based on the competencies acquired. See performance

Paths of Study
Two paths of study exist in the Printing and Computer Graphics
class. Students along with student ability will determine the path
of study that is correct for them.

Respect the instructor, assistant and follow their instructions.
Safety is important, so horseplay will not be tolerated.
Arrive to class on time (start of class and at break time).
Remain in your workstation, unless you have permission to do otherwise.
Bring all materials and tools needed for class.
Cleanliness is the key to quality, so cleanup time will be respected
and observed.
Materials are expensive, so deliberate waste of materials will
not be tolerated.
Respect will be given to others, work and property.
Productivity is important in business, so it will be practiced
in class. |
